Great combination of Power and Optical Quality

I wanted a good binocular that was small, light weight, but with high optical resolution. After much research, I found the Nikon ProStaff 10 x 25 to be the best over-all compromise. It was a little more expensive than many of its competitors, and weighed a little more than I liked, but it still was the best choice. The only negative that I found it that it comes with protective lens caps for only one side of the lenses. I called Nikon about this and they said that was correct, and the lens surfaces on the other side did not need protection. I think this is wrong as every other binoculars that I have used over the years always came for a full set (4) lens caps.

OK... well i spent some hours looking for the best deal on quality, water proof binocs. Very happy with these. Sharp, bright and clear... very good eye relief.
My only complaints are how the neck strap attaches (low tech but secure) and the way the lens covers slip on is not very secure... more of an after thought.
Really though, nice rubberized outer skin, solid construction, nice heavy nylon soft case and great price. The other thing that sold me was the Nikon 25 year no fault warranty. Waterproof too for those James Bond or outdoorsy types. %^)
For what it is, I recommend it

These binoculars are not the best in comparison to others that are more expensive. However, for the size, weight, waterproof, fogproof and function I recommend the Prostaff ATB ! I enjoy hiking in almost all weather conditions and that means that I must bring water and proper layer clothing in my small pack. I have enough weight to worry about and having heavy binoculars was not for me. I didn't want to sacrifice reliability just to have less weight, because I needed a waterproof binocular that wouldn't fill up with water during rain or snow. I love these binoculars- they are perfect for me and I don't feel their weight when I bring them; it fits in my cargo pant pockets!
When I traveled into other states, I brought them with me along with my camera. I attached the case to the camera bag and walked all over the city and parks without them getting in the way. Over one year later, so far I've not had a problem with the binocular itself except witht the lens cap. The lens cap is cheap, but that is all- the binoculars themselves are of good quality. I strongly recommend this paticular brand or model, if you're looking for something that is reliable and not highly expensive. For the price and function they work more than just fine, just take care of them.

Light weight though clear and powerful enough for my primary use, birding. The only drawback so far is the stiff, double lens cap. It is not connected to the binoculars, though can be clipped onto the neck strap when not in use. It tends to get in the way, and doesn't always stay attached whether covering the lenses or on the strap. This is a small annoyance for an otherwise great instrument at a great price.
Bad lens cap design

The binoculars are great but the lens caps are not. There were no lens caps for the objective lenses and the connected eyepiece caps broke apart upon first use and do not stay on. I just keep the binoculars in their case.
